How to use the json viewer

Long, deeply nested JSON is hard to read as text. The viewer shows it as a tree: expand only the branches you care about, see the type of every value (string, number, boolean, null, object or array), and copy a value or its path with one click.

  1. Paste or upload your JSON.
  2. Expand and collapse objects and arrays, or use Expand all / Collapse all.
  3. Click the copy buttons to copy a value or its path.

When to use it

  • Large API responses

Find the field you need without scrolling through thousands of lines.

  • Unfamiliar data

Understand the shape of a dataset before writing code against it.

  • Finding paths

Copy the exact path of a nested value to use in code.

Frequently asked questions

What does the JSON viewer show?

A tree of your JSON with every key, its value and its type. Objects and arrays can be expanded or collapsed, and arrays show how many items they contain.

Can I copy the path to a value?

Yes. Each node has a button to copy its path and another to copy its value.

Can I edit the JSON in the viewer?

No, the viewer is read-only. Edit the text in the input box and the tree updates.

Does it work with large files?

Yes, files up to 10 MB can be uploaded. Collapse branches you don't need to keep the tree easy to navigate.

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste or upload is sent to our servers.
